The list below shows the controls that are available for the objects in the diagrams and views of the BiZZdesign Connect functionality. In addition to the controls mentioned in the list, there may be controls available that can be used in modeling, like the navigator, smart connector and quick-create object controls for adding new elements. These controls are generic and available in almost every modeling language and method in Enterprise Studio.

Name + function

Open canvas menu

Opens the canvas menu of the active mapping diagram. When clicking it, a menu is expanded containing one or more commands for the diagram.

Close canvas menu

Closes the canvas menu of the active mapping diagram. When clicking it, the menu is collapsed.

Add mapping with regular table

Adds a mapping with a regular table to an Excel connection. After clicking the control, the new mapping is placed in the connection object.

Add mapping with relation cross-reference table

Adds a mapping with a relation cross-reference table to an Excel connection. After clicking the control, the new mapping is placed in the connection object.

Set as population column

Sets the selected column of an Excel mapping table as the population column. If set, this column defines the population for an export; the objects in the column are taken as a starting point for an export. Also, objects that are related to this object by the mapping definition may be exported:

  • Parent objects (defined by means of the composition relation).
  • Child objects (defined by the Include children option of the metaobject).
  • Referred objects (defined by means of an attribute that is of type object reference of collection of object references).

Only one column in a table can be set as population column. If the control in another column is clicked, the previously set column is automatically deactivated as population column.

Switch time-value mappings on/off

Only available if a mapping table column is linked to a timed attribute/metric.

Sets the column as a column for timed values. Can also be set via the Show properties control in the column.

Set as time dimension column

Sets the selected mapping table column as a TIME dimension column, which can be used when importing or exporting timed values.

Add mapping

Adds a mapping to a ServiceNow or SQL connection. After clicking the control, the new mapping is placed in the connection object.

Show tables available at the server / in the database

ServiceNow: Retrieves all tables that are currently available in your ServiceNow instance on the server the connection is linked to.

SQL: Retrieves all tables that are currently available in your SQL database the connection is linked to.

Show all possible columns of this table

ServiceNow: Retrieves all columns of the selected table that are currently available in your ServiceNow instance on the server the mapping table is linked to.

SQL: Retrieves all columns of the selected table that are currently available in the SQL database the mapping table is linked to.

Show properties

Opens the pop-up properties window of a selected connection, or component of a connection like a table, metaobject or metarelation.

Column properties

Opens the pop-up properties window of a selected table column representing timed values in a connection.

Import

Performs a model data import from Excel, ServiceNow or SQL to Enterprise Studio for the selected connection.

Export

Performs a model data export from Enterprise Studio to Excel, ServiceNow or SQL for the selected connection.

Report last import

Generates a detailed report of the last performed import from ServiceNow, and shows the results in a table.

Report last export

Generates a detailed report of the last performed export to ServiceNow, and shows the results in a table.

Show validation results

Performs a validation on the selected connection and shows the validation results.

Hide validation results

Hides the validation results shown after performing a validation on the selected connection.

Lay out all mapping relations

If clicked on in a mapping table, lays out all mapping relations that connect one mapping table and model elements.

Lay out mapping relation

If clicked on in a single mapping relation, lays out that mapping relation in a mapping.

Add column

Adds an additional column to the left or the right of the currently selected column in a mapping table. In an Excel connection, this only applies to regular tables.

Add attribute

Adds an attribute to a metaobject or metarelation to set as property for the represented object/relation type. After clicking the control, a selection window appears in which one or more attributes can be selected from the metamodel the object/relation type belongs to.

Set attribute

Can be used to change the attribute property in a metaobject or metarelation. After clicking the control, a selection window appears in which another attribute can be selected from the metamodel the object/relation type belongs to.

Add metric

Adds a metric to a metaobject or metarelation to set as property for the represented object/relation type. After clicking the control, a selection window appears in which a metric can be selected from the model package.

Set metric

Can be used to change the metric property in a metaobject or metarelation. After clicking the control, a selection window appears in which another metric can be selected from the model package.

Add tag

Adds a tagged value to a metaobject or metarelation to set as property for the represented object/relation type. After clicking the control, an entry window appears in which the tag name can be entered.

Set tag

Can be used to change the tag property in a metaobject or metarelation. After clicking the control, a window appears in which the tag name can be changed.

Add metadata

Adds a kind of metadata to a metaobject or metarelation to set as property for the represented object/relation type. After clicking the control, a selection window appears in which the desired metadata kind can be selected.

Set metadata

Can be used to change the metadata property in a metaobject or metarelation. After clicking the control, a window appears in which a different metadata kind can be selected.

Remove

Removes the selected property (attribute, metric, tag or metadata) in a metaobject or metarelation in a mapping.

Reset

Resets the value of a property in a properties pop-up window, restoring the property to its default value or emptying it.

Validate and complete table/column properties

Validates the table or column property. If validation is successful, the check mark turns green . If validation fails, the check mark turns red .

Collapse relation

Collapses the selected metarelation between two metaobjects in an Excel connection, turning it into a relation line between the two objects.

Expand relation

Expands the selected collapsed relation between two metaobjects in an Excel connection, turning it into a metarelation that is connected with links to the metaobjects.

Clear stored ServiceNow credentials

Available on a ServiceNow connection if credentials for ServiceNow have been stored when connecting to the ServiceNow instance. Clears the stored credentials, meaning that they need to be entered again the next time a connection needs to be made.
