The list below shows the controls that are available in the various strategy and business model views.


In addition to the controls mentioned in the list, there may be controls available that can be used in modeling, like the navigator, smart connector and quick-create object controls for adding new elements. These controls are generic and available in almost every modeling language and method in Enterprise Studio.

Open canvas menu
Opens the canvas menu of the active view. When clicking it, a menu is expanded containing one or more commands for the view.

 

Close canvas menu
Closes the canvas menu of the active view. When clicking it, the menu is collapsed.

 

Set properties
Available in the SWOT analysis, PESTEL analysis, Balanced Scorecard, Porter's Five Forces, Scenario analysis view, Business Model Canvas, and Business Outcome Journey Map. Opens a window with the properties of the view.

 

Select layout
Available in the SWOT analysis. Shows the possible layout modes of the view, representing the techniques that can be used: SWOT analysis and TOWS matrix . Clicking a layout changes the layout in the view.

 

Select layout
Available in the PESTEL analysis. Shows the possible layout modes of the view, representing the variations of the PESTEL analysis that can be used: PEST  (4 categories), PESTEL  (6 categories, default), and PESTELEDE  (9 categories). Clicking a layout changes the layout in the view.

 

Select presentation style
Available in the SWOT analysis, PESTEL analysis, Balanced Scorecard, and Porter's Five Forces. Shows the possible presentation styles of the elements created on the view. Clicking a style changes the elements in the view.

 

Show metric form
Available in the SWOT analysis, PESTEL analysis, Porter's Five Forces. Opens a window in which the metrics can be added, and their values can be set for each created element in the view.

Add metric
Available in the customer details block, Experiences blocks, and Feeling block of the Customer Journey Map, and in the stakeholder details block and Metrics block of the Business Outcome Journey Map. Opens a window in which a metric can be selected from the model. Depending on the component, one or multiple metrics can be added.

Add component
Available in the Scenario analysis view and the Business Outcome Journey Map. Shows the components to be added to the view.

 

Scenario analyses
Available in the Business Model Canvas. Opens a pop-up window in which scenarios analyses can be executed to perform stress tests on the business model. If no scenario analysis view is available, a new one can be created.

Click  to select a scenario ( is selected). At the top of the canvas, select the metric to be used for the coloring of the Business Model Canvas blocks by clicking .  indicates a selected metric.

Create scenario analysis
Available in the Business Model Canvas. Creates a new Scenario analysis view with the Business Model Canvas categories pre-filled. In this view, configure the metrics and assign them values for all the Business Model Canvas categories.

Add phase/stage
Available in the Customer Journey Map and Business Outcome Journey Map. Add an additional phase or stage to the map, to the right or the left of the selected phase/stage.

 

Refresh
Available in the Scenario analysis view, Ecosystem view, Customer Journey Map, Business Outcome Map, and Strategy on a Page. Refreshes the data in the view, or the selected strategy block (only in Strategy on a Page).

 

Show form
Available in the SWOT analysis, PESTEL analysis, Porter's Five Forces, and Business Model Canvas. Opens a window with the properties of the selected element.

Show properties
Available in the Balanced Scorecard. Opens a window with the properties of the scorecard, selected scorecard category, or selected goal in the scorecard.

Show/hide explanation
Available on a moment of interaction in the Customer Journey Map. When clicked on, a data entry box is shown in which an explanation of the customer's interaction for the moment can be added. When clicked again, the box is hidden.

 

Select category color
Available in the Porter's Five Forces view, with the Edit category colors property activated. Opens a window in which the color for a block (category) in the view can be selected.

 

Reset to default value
Resets the value of a property in a properties window to its default.

Show/hide metric
Available in the Customer Journey Map and Business Outcome Journey Map. Shows or hides the line chart of a metric in the Experiences and Metrics blocks. Only works if two or more metrics are used.

Reset category color to default
Available in the Porter's Five Forces view, with the Edit category colors property activated. Resets the color of a category to its default.

Remove metric 
Available in the customer details block and Experiences and Feeling blocks of the Customer Journey Map, and in the Metrics block of the Business Outcome Journey Map, if metrics are present. Removes the respective metric.

 

Show the performance of the strategy in a color view
Available in the Balanced Scorecard. Activates a color view of the scorecard in which the performance of the goals is shown.

 

Show properties
Available in the Balanced Scorecard and Ecosystem view. Shows the properties form of the selected relation.

 

Toggle between manual definition and generated by script
Available in a textual or graphical strategy block of the Strategy on a Page. Determines if the selected strategy block is manually defined, or generated by script.

Set viewpoint for script
Available in a textual or graphical strategy block of the Strategy on a Page, if the block is set to be generated by script. Clicking it opens a window in which the viewpoint can be selected that is calling the script.

 

Set population
Available in a textual or graphical strategy block of the Strategy on a Page. Opens a window in which the population for the block can be defined. Defining the population for a strategy block is similar to defining the population for a chart.

The population can also be defined by dragging elements from the model browser onto the strategy block.

 

Toggle analysis
Available in the Strategy on a Page. Selects the element in a textual block or graphical block to use it as the subject (or starting point) of the analysis. The selected element is highlighted.

 

Select color
Available in the Business Model Canvas. Sets the color for the selected sticky note.

To return an element to its default color (based on the category background color), click the same color again.

 

Set duration
Available in the Customer Journey Map and Business Outcome Journey Map. Opens a window in which the duration of the phase or stage can be set.

 

Set color scheme
Available in the Customer Journey Map and Business Outcome Journey Map. Clicking the control opens a pop-up window in which a color scheme can be selected for the metric values of customer experiences or capabilities.

 

Set moment of truth
Available in the Customer Journey Map. Sets a moment of interaction in a touchpoints block of the Customer Journey Map to a moment of truth.

 

Unset moment of truth
Available in the Customer Journey Map. Sets a moment of truth in a touchpoints block of the Customer Journey Map back to a regular moment of interaction.

 

Add value
Available in the Ecosystem view. Opens a window in which the type of value for a flow relation can be set.
