To reference other interactions in a UML sequence diagram, interaction uses can be used. An interaction use is a fragment that uses or calls another interaction. It is shown in the sequence diagram as a fragment with the operator ref to indicate the reference to another interaction. An interaction use can be used for simplifying large and complex sequence diagrams.

Steps:

  1. In the diagram, select the interaction use, and then click .



  2. In the selection window, select the desired interaction, and then click OK.


The  control can also be used to change the used interaction.


Once an interaction has been set, you can navigate to the used interaction by clicking the  control of the interaction use. To remove the connection between an interaction use and its linked interaction, click the  control.
