The Coach view is a specific view available in ArchiMate® models for defining cyclic and sequential methods for modeling. The view usually serves as a central point for working on and accessing all steps in the process of your modeling method. It is a view with clickable components when using it in Enterprise Studio as well as in sites in Horizzon. 

Once fully configured, the Coach view is very easy to use. The following actions can be performed in a Coach view when used in Horizzon sites. Using the Coach view in Enterprise Studio works different for some of the components.

Use of the Coach view is explained based on a fully configured Coach view of type "cycle", but is also applicable to the other two coach types.

When viewing this Coach view in a site in Horizzon, it looks as shown below. The View browser and Help box are not displayed in the view. They can be accessed via the Properties panel.

Viewing views and viewpoints and navigating to them

The views and viewpoints associated with the Coach view are located in the View browser. They can be linked to the Coach view in general, but also to the specific phases.

To see the views and viewpoints associated with a specific phase, first click on a phase in the Coach component. The Properties panel of the selected phase slides in, showing (amongst others) the Details section. Expanding the section will show the views and viewpoints linked to the phase, including their help text, if available. Clicking a view or viewpoint will navigate you to it.

To view and navigate to the views and viewpoints associated with the Coach view in general, click somewhere on the Coach except one of the phases, and the Properties panel slides in with the Details section containing the views and viewpoints with their help texts.

If there are no views and viewpoints linked to the Coach view or to a phase, the Details section will not be available in the Properties panel.

Viewing help texts of the Coach and the phases

The help text of the Coach and its phases is located in the Documentation section of the Properties panel. To view the help text of a coach phase, click on a phase in the Coach component. In the Properties panel that slides in, expand the Documentation section to view the help text. To view the help text of the Coach, click somewhere on the Coach except one of the phases. The Documentation section of the Properties panel will show the help text.

If there is no help text for the Coach or for a phase, the Documentation section will not be available in the Properties panel.

Navigating to views from the thumbnails

The views represented by thumbnails in the Thumbnails box of the Coach view can simply be opened by clicking one of the thumbnails.
