In addition to the colors used for the ArchiMate® objects in Enterprise Studio, notational cues in the form of a letter can be used to distinguish between the layers of the framework.
A letter in the top-left corner of an element can be used to denote a Motivation (M), Strategy (S), Business (B), Application (A), Technology (T), Physical (P), or Implementation & Migration element (I).
To activate a notational cue in an element, select the element in a view, and then click the letter in the top-left corner.

To remove a letter again, just click it.
